Heather Joelle Warner Smith, 24, Meridian,
left this life to meet her Father in Heaven on Thursday, April 9, 2009
after a 4 1/2 year battle with cancer. A visitation will be held today,
Sunday, April 12, 2009 from 7-9 P.M. at the Meridian 3rd Ward LDS
Chapel on the corner of Franklin and Locust Grove in Meridian, Idaho.
Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, April 13, 2009 at
the same location with a private family viewing one hour prior to the
service. Interment will be the following day, Tuesday, April 14, 2009
at Mountain View Cemetery in Pocatello, Idaho at 10 a.m. Services are
under the direction of Accent Funeral Home, Meridian. Heather was born
Oct. 16, 1984 in Pocatello, Idaho to Greg and Karen (Burstedt) Warner.
Her family moved to Boise when she was three and then to Meridian when
she was eight. A 2003 graduate of Eagle High School, she was an honors
student, loved to play the piano, and never missed a powder puff
football game. Throughout her life, she worked at Wingers, Roaring
Springs, and Idaho State University Federal Credit Union. She began
college at Idaho State University in 2003, where she met her eternal
companion, Christopher J. Smith of Blackfoot, Idaho. They were married
in the Idaho Falls Temple in March 2004 and lived in Pocatello for the
next few years as Chris attended ISU. Heather and Chris were blessed
with William Carter Smith in Oct. 2007, while she was in remission from
her cancer. William brought much joy to her life and lightened her
trials with his quick smile and boundless energy. Heather had a
multitude of talents that included writing, drawing, graphic design,
jewelry making, and scrapbooking. She often made gifts of her creations
for family and friends. She loved to spend time with her family
watching movies or playing pinochle with her parents or in-laws. After
the news in Oct. 2008 that her cancer had returned, family and friends
joined together to send Heather, Chris, and Will on a dream vacation to
Playa del Carmen, Mexico, where many happy memories were made. She and
Chris were able to get away several times to Cascade, McCall, and
Kennewick, Wash, where they were looking for a new home. Heather was
surrounded by many loved ones who supported her and cheered her on
throughout her entire illness. Heather is survived by her husband,
Chris; 18 month old son, William; parents, Greg and Karen Warner of
Meridian; siblings, Robyn (Ryan) Lott and their son Gabe of Boise, and
younger brothers Logan, and Braedon; grandparents, Delbert and Claudia
Warner of Boise, and Susan Burstedt of Pocatello; great grandmother,
Enid Burstedt of Boise; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She
is also survived by Chris's family: Kurt and Deanna Smith and siblings
Allie, Jamie, and Emmett of Blackfoot, Idaho. She is preceded in death
by her grandfather, Carl Burstedt. The family wishes to thank the staff
and physicians at St. Luke's Pediatric MSTI and the 4th South nurses
and staff for their caring and compassion over the past several years.
Condolences may be sent to the family at www.accentfuneral.com.
